Monthly Newsletter - May 2026

Hi All!

I am sticking to it!  Our monthly "behind the scenes" / here's what's new at Campo newsletter.  This is Katie Lorenz - the owner/founder of Campo Alpaca.

I want to start off this newsletter with gratitude.  I have so much to be grateful for... the folks that come to mind today and all of the time are my amazing family.  I get asked a lot, "Do you do this alone?"  The answer is NO - my amazing family have taken on huge roles in the company everything from bookkeeping, inventory, shipping out all of  your online orders, selling at pop up markets, sewing labels, labeling and relabel our socks and more.  I can honestly say we wouldn't be at the size we are now without them.  I might also be in trouble with the IRS or some government entity without my mom keeping us organizing, because I would likely skip that step.  Just keepin' it real.  It's good to be self aware.

Here's what's new! ....

We are excited for our last two markets of this half of the year.  We will be back to the pop up markets in September.  Come see us in Madison and/or Baraboo!  Special market deals only in person!

Other Highs & Lows

  • We MIGHT get money back from the ridiculous tariffs.  I'll believe that when I have a check in my hand, but we shall see!
  • There is an alpaca yarn shortage in Peru.  Our team is getting creative and we are grateful it looks like everything will work out.  We are learning as we go and we will be buying yarn a LOT earlier for 2027 production.
  • A few more highs:  The Great Midwest Alpaca Fest was amazing and so fun.  What a fantastic, helpful community of people.  As we released a wholesale collection this year - we have the pleasure of working with alpaca farms and helping them fill their farm stores with alpaca gifts for purchase!
  • I will be attending UW-Madison Commencement next weekend!  It looks like the temperature will be perfect for an alpaca sweater!  On Wisconsin!

We are hard at work growing this company.  It's a very exciting and busy time.  Please feel free to reach out anytime.  Questions, words of encouragement, feedback, want to get involved.  Let me know.

Have a great month!

Katie Lorenz
