Interview by: Jason Bamrungtrakun
How many years has it been since you interned at Campo?
"It's been almost a year. I joined from May 2018 to May 2020."
Can you describe your internship experience at Campo? What were your responsibilities?
"I started out as a video editor to help create content for social media using existing footage from Peru. From there, I became Campo's videographer where I directed, filmed and edited videos for social media and Campo's website."
Where are you now in your professional career?
"I've just started my first job in a research lab, but I am applying to several masters programs."
Why did you decide to join Campo?
"Three reasons:
  1. Campo's social mission to help small businesses and communities in Peru
  2. Katie is a UW-Madison alum and she is passionate about helping fellow badgers gain professional experience
  3. Alpacas."
Do you believe that Campo can create a positive impact on other communities and the environment?
"Yes, through providing business opportunities to small business owners and clothes makers. Campo also supports a charity organization aimed eradicating poverty through after school programs."
What did you enjoy most about your internship experience at Campo?
"Definitely our trip to Peru in 2019 where I got to document and film Campo's story, learn more about the social impacts of our work, and experience life in Peru for the first time."
How has your Campo internship created an impact on your professional development and career?
"Through my work with Campo, I was able to develop and sharpen my skills as a videographer as well as learn to collaborate effectively with other team members and volunteers. I have also been able to develop a strong and diverse filmmaking portfolio which I have used to apply for jobs and show potential clients. Katie has also been an incredible reference for a filmmaking program that I just applied for."
Thank you to Myles for helping further Campo's mission! Stay tuned for our next featured Campo Alpaca Alumni.
